Visiting Robert is Here Fruit Stand in Homestead, Florida

Robert is Here Fruit Stand and Farm

There is such a unique start to this story. When Robert, the owner, was six years old he sat at the same corner his stand is now and started selling his father’s cucumbers. His first shot at trying to sell fruit didn’t go so well. He told his dad that no one came to visit. His father, thinking no one could see him sitting there, placed a sign that read “Robert is Here”. By noon, he had sold all of the cucumbers.

Robert continued selling fruits and vegetables after school and on the weekends. He later hired a neighbor lady to work the stand for him while he was in school. His entrepreneur skills continued as he began to purchase land at the age of 14 and planted an avocado grove on it. He continued to grow his farm and his business has continued to thrive.

He continues his legacy of selling rare exotic and tropical fruit at his fruit stand daily. You will find the most unique fruits and some you can’t pronounce. Most are grown on his farm while some are imported from other countries. Robert is happy to share his knowledge of the items he sells in his shop. He will tell you how to tell when the items are ripe and what they will taste like. He is very knowledgable about the items he sells.

Robert and his wife Tracey

Below is Robert and his lovely wife Tracey. Together they had four children who help run the store today.

Outside activities

Outside you will find a small area with birds, goats and chickens. During the winter months you might find a live band on the weekends out in the courtyard. You can enjoy the music as you sip on your shake and let the kids enjoy watching the animals or riding on the small child toys available in the yard.

Fruit smoothies and milkshakes

Their fruit smoothies and milkshakes are the best. They are made with all natural fruit and the fruits are cut up and prepared fresh daily. They are priced at $10 each and were so so good. I also purchased a Cuban Sandwich and with my two shakes it totaled $30.99

I wanted to purchase some items to take home with us. It was hard to pick as there was so much to chose from. My total for what you see below was $79.88. I bought several different fruits, jam, alligator jerky, cilantro, and salad dressing.

NOTE: I made a wonderful guacamole with the large avocado seen above. 4 out of 6 of my family developed stomachaches after eating it. I am not sure if it was the avocado or a coincidence but just use caution as you eat these exotic fruits.

We had no problem with any of the other items I purchased.

This was a fun stop after our time visiting the Everglades National Park. After leaving Everglades from the Ernest F Coe Visitor Center near Miami we headed straight to Robert is Here Fruit Stand in Homestead. It is about a 10 minute drive. Make sure to add this spot to your list when you are traveling near Miami, Florida.
