Nestled in the heart of Waco, Texas, lies a destination that has captured the hearts of design enthusiasts - Magnolia Market at the Silos. I started watching the TV show Fixer Upper several years ago and I immediately fell in love with this beloved duo, Chip and Joanna Gaines, who seemed to have so much passion for what they do and so much love for each other. Watching Chip and Joanna transform outdated homes into warm inviting spaces, where a farmhouse meets modern elegance, and every corner of the home feels warm and defines a sense of belonging within the Magnolia brand. They have built such a connection with their community and have transformed an iconic shopping complex into a welcoming area with towering silos that are the symbol of the Magnolia empire. You will instantly see the vision and creativity as you step on their grounds and enjoy this creative community.

Visiting Magnolia Market at The Silos

My family and I had the privilege of visiting Magnolia Market and eating at Magnolia Table a couple of years ago on our summer vacation. It was an amazing experience and my kids (even my teens) really liked it too.

**Update - We have been to Magnolia the last two summers (2021 & 2022). This blog post includes updated pictures and information related to visiting Magnolia.

Magnolia Table Restaurant

Our first stop in Waco was at Magnolia Table. This was a charming restaurant located in Waco, Texas and owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines. This restaurant first opened as Elite Cafe in 1919 and became so popular they later opened a second restaurant. In 1953 both places eventually closed due to damage from a tornado and multiple owner changes. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and a variety of comfort food. Magnolia Table offers a menu filled with classic breakfast and brunch dishes. The interior continues with Magnolia’s signature brand with wooden accents and elegant touches throughout. I promise you will not go away hungry!

I recommend getting there early or make online reservations. We arrived at 8 am and ended up waiting two hours for a table. Magnolia Table only serves breakfast and lunch so plan accordingly as breakfast is Chip’s favorite meal of the day. Their food was amazing, and it was decorated so beautifully and had so many Joanna touches that made it perfect. From the family style dining to tiles floors, to the pockets on the wall to put your cell phones in so you can enjoy the company of your family and many other warm touches to make you feel welcome. Our total meal was $88.69 for 5 dishes which included french toast, bacon and scrambled eggs, and many more yummy dishes.

Magnolia Table Hours: Monday to Saturday from 7am - 3pm. Reservations can be made on their website. Closed on Sunday.

Address: 2132 S Valley Mills Dr, Waco

They also have a Take Away + Market on site where you can order limited menu items or purchase a T-shirt, coffee mug, coffee and more. Hours: Monday to Saturday 8am to 3:30pm. Closed Sunday

Magnolia Table at Concessions is also located at The Silos near Katy Ballpark where you can purchase limited to go items to eat as you stroll the grounds. Hours: 11am to 4pm

Magnolia Table Cookbooks

Want to bring Magnolia Table to your home? Purchase Joanna’s cookbooks. I have all of them and the recipes are amazing. Purchase her cookbooks here:

How far is Magnolia Table from Magnolia Market?

After we ate, we headed to Magnolia Market which is about an 8-minute drive from Magnolia Table.

Parking

Parking is free along the streets, but you may have to drive around some to find an open spot. There was a large lot open across from Silo’s Bakery, that you could pay for it you wanted to be close, cost is $10.

Magnolia Market at The Silos

Once we arrived our first stop was Magnolia Market to check out all of the home goods.

Magnolia Market Hours: Their shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm. Closed on Sunday.

Address: 601 Webster Ave, Waco

From the moment you step onto Magnolia grounds you will fall in love. You can see how much Chip and Joanna put into every detail of their shops, restaurants, lawn and surrounding space. I loved walking around and viewing all of the products they have for sale in their store. From kitchen decor to flowers and vases, baskets, candlesticks, books apparel, and more. It was so cool to see the products I have only seen on TV up close. They have several areas of design for you to explore and get ideas for your next home project. The design within the store changes seasonally so you can imagine the possibilities of the space in your own home. They do offer shipping if you find something you cannot live without but do not have space to bring it home with you.

Souvenirs plus Chip and Jo books

They have a souvenir section where I purchased some t-shirts, keychain, water bottle, bag and more. We received one of Chip’s books for free for spending over one hundred dollars’ worth of products. The book was called No Pain, No Gaines which is in my pile of books to read! I have read their book The Magnolia Story which was such an inspiring book! This book provided details of their courtship and how their empire evolved over time. Such a great read. I am currently reading Jo’s new book; The Stories We Tell: Every Piece of Your Story Matters. So far, this book has been an inspiration. It provides the opportunity to look within yourself and discover what holds you back from being your best self. Find what matters and follow your path to happiness.

Magnolia Home

The second time we went we were able to visit Magnolia Home where her larger pieces of furniture are sold such as beds, seating, rugs, pillows and much more. They have several areas on display as seen below that gives you an idea of what your home could look like with their furnishings. Each area I visited, felt like a dream home. It was fun to imagine that space in my own home and how beautifully it would transform my own space.

Outdoor Seating

Outdoor seating outside of Magnolia Press and Magnolia Home is shown below. The perfect place to sit and enjoy a coffee or friendship conversations.

There are a few shops to browse on the property. Updated September 2024. Those shops include:

Alabama Sweet Tea Company

After we walked through the stores, we decided to walk around outside on their property and found The Alabama Sweet Tea Company. Their tea was so sweet (they sell different levels of sweetness) and really good especially on a hot day. Their tea is sold with the highest quality ingredients, filtered water and cane sugar. You get their souvenir glass with each purchase. The tea was around $8 plus tax each.

The Old Church at Magnolia Market

The old church (below) built in 1894 was a thriving church for a century until it eventually became quiet and without worshipers for over 30 years. Jo saw the beauty in this old church and decided it needed to be a part of her expanding grounds at Magnolia. History and beauty is what draws Jo to these amazing structures. It was eventually moved to the grounds where you see it today. You are able to walk inside the church and take time to relax and pray or just enjoy its beauty from the outside. Such a beautiful backdrop to these already beautiful grounds.

Katy Ballpark at Magnolia Market

Outside the church is the manicured lawn where you can play whiffle ball or stay and enjoy watching other families playing. It was so fun to see families taking the time to enjoy these special moments with their kids. In this section you can find concession type foods such as popcorn, pretzels, ice cream and hot dogs that you can enjoy while you watch a game. Katy ballpark was the original ballpark in the Waco area known as Waco Cubs. This ended in 1930 due to the Great Depression.

To go with our delicious, sweet tea, we had pulled pork sandwiches at Whizz Bang’s hamburgers. The food was really good, but the service wasn’t the best as the staff were not very friendly. Despite the service, the food was great, and I would eat there again.

Cheddar Box Gourmet Grilled Cheese was our next stop and is such a cute food truck. The staff was so friendly, and the food looked amazing. Their lemonade is so so good and they have many versions of grilled cheese to choose from at this food truck. You should definitely stop by and try one. Instagram @cheddarboxwaco

Magnolia Silos Waco Texas

The Silos at Magnolia Market

The Silos

I loved viewing the Silos up close. This is where it all began for Magnolia Market, where the heart of their story begins and the transformation of the city becoming a beloved destination.

The Silo’s, once abandoned, become the stepping point of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ vision. Here they represent their whole community and invite the preservation of this history within the city. Watching the TV episode where they are visiting the Silos and Chip tells Joanna that they were able to purchase the property so she can pursue her new dream was inspiring! From a small business to a nationally recognized brand, this symbolizes the creativity and resilience of an inspiring story. Such a sweet moment and to actually see the Silos up close was so memorable.

Don’t forget to take a picture near the Silos or sit on the large lawn and enjoy the view and relax while the kids play games on the lawn.

Our final stop was to search for Chip and Jo’s latest renovation. This amazing castle shown below! Built in 1913 with its stone walls and castle type exterior. Chip saw the beauty this place could become and dreamed about owning it for years. It finally became a reality in 2019 as the couple purchased the property to renovate. Such a perfect home for somebody to enjoy someday and make it into a home for their family. It was lovingly named the Cottonwood Castle.

Camping in Waco

I knew I wanted to camp near Waco so we could be close to Magnolia Market. We chose to camp at Midway campground as it was closest to Magnolia Market, about 10 miles. We parked next to the Waco Lake and enjoyed the view of this lake as we watched the sun set. Make sure to bring bug spray (this is the link to the bug spray we use and love, it is all-natural and made in the USA) as the mosquitos were bad at night.

Address: 2330 West Highway 6, Waco

Camping: This campground has 37 sites and 32 of the sites have water and electric hookups and 11 spots have sewer hookup as well. Paved camping sites. Maximum stay is 14 days in a 30-day period.

Cost: campsite was $16 tent only, $28 RV electric, $32 RV electric with sewer, and $42 RV electric double a night.

Amenities: Swimming, fishing, playground, boat ramp, paved parking spots were nice and included shade trees, picnic table, electric, and a fire ring.

There were plenty of trees for my kids to set up their hammocks for a while in the morning and enjoy some downtime and the lake view before we headed to Magnolia Table for breakfast.

Restrooms with flush toilets were available and included a shower but we couldn’t figure out how to get the shower to work in the womens. The men’s restroom did have one working shower that we were able to use. They only clean the restrooms every few days according to their sign on the restroom door. Definitely not a luxury place but it did the job for a couple nights stay.

Hours: 6am to 10pm. You cannot enter the park after 10pm.

Pets: Yes

Cell: Yes, Verizon
