Sloth Encounter with Bart

We really enjoyed our private sloth encounter with Bart the two toed sloth. He is about 14 years old and has been living at the facility since 2008. It was so fun to be up close to touch and feed a sloth. Each of us were able to feed the sloth with supervision from staff. It is amazing how slow they are in everything they do. They are amazing creatures. The staff were eager to answer any questions we had about this encounter and Bart.

It is sad to report that 17-year-old Bart passed away January 2024. Hopefully they are able to find another sloth someday for others to enjoy.

Cost for Sloth Encounter: 1-3 people is $96 for the group, 4 people $111, 5 people $126, 6 people $141, 7 people $156 (2023 prices)

Reptile Resort

Get up close with some exotic snakes and spend time learning about each species. They do their best to provide the animals with the best habitat they can that mimics their natural habitat. They provide educational opportunities and entertainment for you to enjoy.

The staff provide an up-close encounter with the snakes and offer informational sessions which allows for a question-and-answer session as well.

This picture below was part of the Giant Snake Show where you can learn about these species of snakes and get up close to them.

African Bush Safari

After visiting with the sloth, we took the African Bush Safari bus ride. This took us on a tour to see the many different animals that live on their land. As we traveled through this area, they would give information about the animals and stop and interact with a few of them.

Our bus driver stated he does this as a side job and stated he is Anthony Bandera’s stunt double at his other job (see below pic). He did sort of look like him but who knows.

Experience the wild

Experience the wild as you watch staff interact with the ostrich, zebras, rhinos, and more. Learn about their habitats, the food they eat, and their animal families. Staff took their time on this tour to make sure we saw each animal on this open aired bus tour.

Travel the wild necessities

This location is very hot in the summer so come prepared with these needed items.

Special events

Enjoy unforgettable adventures with special events held throughout the year.

  • Annual campout - This event held in May gets sold out every year. Camp under the stars and learn about how animal behavior changes at night.

  • Photography Workshop - join a professional photographer as they guide you through the park where you can take pictures with your camera of the wild.

Other related blog posts

The staff at Out of Africa Wildlife Park were very friendly and strive to give the best experience they can while you watch in amazement as they interact with the animals. We loved our interaction with Bart and are sad that he has passed away. Although we enjoyed this park, it isn’t a place I would particularly visit again. Going in the cooler months and taking younger kids will help this experience be more fun. It is small park which will give it a more intimate feel as you spend time exploring the grounds and visiting with the animals.

Enjoy the journey,
