Gateway Arch National Park
Can you believe this is a National Park? Well, it is, and it crossed off the 14th National Park on our list. Gateway Arch National Park, located in the heart of St Louis, Missouri, is an iconic 630-foot Gateway Arch that surrounds the rich history of the area and provides a scenic landscape along the Mississippi River.
Visit the Museum of Westward Expansion while enjoying breathtaking views from the top. Or explore the grounds where you can experience architectural marvel, making this a must-visit destination.
Located in St Louis, Missouri
This National Park is located in the heart of St Louis, Missouri. There are multiple shopping, restaurants, and hotels nearby for convenience if you choose to stay a couple days in the area.
Gateway Arch National Park is 630 feet tall which is twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty. The Arch took over a year to build from 1964 to 1965. Special design went into the building of the Arch to consider for wind, lightening, and making sure the windows at top are the right size to support the Arch.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the park grounds as you enjoy the view of the magnificent Arch formation.
Tram Ride to the top
There are 8 tram cars that take you to the top of the Arch. You can fit 5 people in each tram car. Once at the top you can spend limited time looking out the 16 windows at the surrounding areas. I did not like the fact that we were very limited with our time at the top. You get about 7-9 minutes to view out the windows before the next tram is available to take you back down.
View at the top of the Arch
You can view the river, St Louis Cardinals baseball field, Courthouse and more. On a clear day you can see 30 miles outside the windows. There is a small ledge you can lean on as you view the outside.
You might not think of this park when you are finding National Parks to explore but it is worth the visit. Such a unique park to add to your list. Spend some time on the lawn admiring the Arch up close. You are able to touch the Arch and take pictures next to it as well. If was fun to touch this giant structure.
