Celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Tampa Florida

Visiting the St. Patrick’s Day River O’ Green Festival in Tampa provided an Irish charm, live entertainment, food trucks, and festive fun activities.

Dying the Hillsborough River

Every year Tampa celebrates St Patrick’s Day with festivities all aglow in green. To start they celebrate with their annual St Patrick’s Day River O’ Green Fest at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. They transform the Hillsborough River into a dazzling shade of emerald green, which starts the celebration in the heart of downtown along the Riverfront.

From lively Irish music to food vendors and plenty of family friendly activities, Tampa sparkles with green for this iconic event. You can celebrate the green Hillsborough River by boating or kayaking or just enjoy it from the scenic riverwalk.

This high energy FREE event happens annually on a weekend in March. (Date varies each year) Pets are allowed and it is a family friendly event. Dress in your favorite greens and enjoy a mix of Florida sunshine and St. Paddy’s Day spirit!

Address: 600 North Ashley Drive, Tampa Florida

Food Trucks, live music and games

Food trucks pop up for this celebration giving you time to enjoy some good food and green beer. The year we went, 2023, they had about 6 food trucks total with a variety of food trucks from Greek food, ice cream, grilled cheese and more.

Several sponsors help with this annual event to provide the activities and games for all to enjoy.

Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays were there with their Spin the Wheel game where you could win tickets to the Rays game, koozies, lanyards and more. Let the kids play in the green fountain or take a picture next to the Lucky sign while enjoying the city view all lit up at night.

Jeni’s Ice Cream

Since we were in the area we stopped at our favorite ice cream shop. This is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Jeni’s is one of our all time favorite places to get ice cream with unique flavors that change with the season.

Address: 305 W Palm Ave, Tampa

If you are in the Tampa area for St Patrick’s day, make sure to stop by for some good food, games and live entertainment in a welcoming atmosphere on this unforgettable fun green filled day!

Enjoy the journey,
